One Thousand Cranes

Students on the Norris Middle School Design Team for the Mary Louise Robinson Library served as docents at the recent Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on October 9, 2016. This is a story that student, David Saldana, shared during the tech lab tour.

When you look into our tech lab you might wonder why we have origami cranes hanging from the ceiling.  These cranes are based on the story of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, which is based on an old Japanese legend.  The legend says that anyone who folds one thousand cranes will be granted a wish.  We thought that this was a perfect project for our library.  There are 1000 cranes, each one represents one of the almost 1000 students here at Norris Middle School.  We figure that we must have been granted a wish to receive a library and tech center as beautiful as this!
